Safety Services of Texas can provide statewide BILINGUAL consultive safety services to supplement your in-house safety assistance provided to your Policyholders. We can custom design a service plan to meet both temporary and ongoing safety needs of your Policyholder. We can provide “on call” assistance or we can provide on-going assistance to meet your Policyholder’s safety needs in order to meet your TWCC regulatory requirements. We are flexible to respond to special needs that an insurance carrier may request. We can modify our documentation to meet the requests/needs of the insurance carrier and/or agent.
Understanding the needs of an insurance carrier and/or agent is critical to provide effective assistance. With over twenty five years experience providing loss prevention services to insurance carriers, we have the knowledge to be effective in our services.

TWCC REQUIRED SERVICES

We can provide assistance to help you comply with TWCC required loss prevention services contained in Chapter 166 rules. We can provide, as directed, assistance in responding to fatality occurrences within the three working day TWCC requirement, on-site physical safety surveys for Policyholders with premiums greater than $25,000 manual WC premium, small account (less than $25,000 manual WC premium) high loss site visits, etc. We are familiar with the TWCC required loss prevention services required by carriers writing workers compensation insurance in Texas.
While we have provided complete carrier loss prevention representation in Texas (including TWCC loss prevention audits), we can provide any portion of loss prevention services that a carrier may need assistance in.

CONSULTIVE ASSISTANCE IN ADMINISTRATIVE AREAS

Experienced safety professionals are available to evaluate and identify potential deficiencies within existing loss control programs. This may involve a comprehensive evaluation of the overall program, or an analysis of specific program components. We do have a bilingual consulant to assist in Spanish safety training and discussions in Spanish with Spanish only speaking policyholders.
If no administrative program exists, our experienced safety professionals can develop the needed loss control program elements. Such elements can include:

We can evaluate existing safety programs for adherence to current OSHA standards and effectiveness individual company exposures. We can provide a CD ROM containing sample safety program elements and other safety related materials to Policyholders

SAFETY SURVEYS OF FACILITIES/OPERATIONS

Experienced safety professionals are available to perform on-location physical safety surveys of Policyholder facilities/operations. During surveys, both physical hazards and employee work practices are evaluated. Recommendations for improvement are discussed with appropriate management (per client instructions) and can be confirmed in writing. Report and letter formats can be specified by the insurance carrier.

EVALUATION OF SPECIFIC LOSS EXPOSURES

When a need is indicated by the Policyholder, specialized studies can be conducted to evaluate specific loss exposures. Examples of such studies include:
    • Ergonomic evaluation of work stations
    • Work site/practices to reduce exposure to cumulative trauma type injuries
    • Evaluation of slip/fall exposures
    • Exposure to hazardous environments or substances
    • Evaluation of specific hazards of equipment/operations
    • Evaluation of equipment where accidents have occurred

Consultive reports including engineering recommendations based on surveys, consultation, and accepted safety standards will be provided when requested.

Subrogation investigations can be conducted to evaluate the facts surrounding specific accidents to assist claims personnel in determining subrogation potential.

INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE SERVICES

Qualified personnel (25 years industrial hygiene experience) are available to perform on-site evaluation and sampling for potential occupational disease exposures such as vapor/particulate contaminants and noise dosimeter evaluations. A determination of the existence, nature, and quantitative aspects of hazardous exposures which may be present in the policyholder's operations can be conducted. Accredited laboratories are utilized for sample analysis.
Indoor air quality evaluations, including airborne mold sampling, can be conducted with recommendations for corrective action. Mold remediation plans can be developed if within the scope of direction of insurance carrier and/or agent.
In-house industrial hygiene sampling equipment utilized includes:

    • Drager Chip Measurement System (Hundreds of specific chemical chips inserted for instantaneous       chemical level measurement)

    • Quest Noise Dosimeters (8 hour time weighted average noise dosage)

    • Metrosonic Noise Dosimeters (8 hour time weighted average noise dosage)

MANAGEMENT SAFETY SEMINARS

Safety seminars/training can be tailored to meet the specific safety needs of a client’s operation. Topics for supervisor safety training can include hazard recognition, safety training techniques, accident investigation techniques, or other areas relating to supervisory responsibility for accident prevention. Safety Supervisors’ courses can be held at a client’s location. Additionally, safety professionals can assist a client in organizing slides/video/script for in-house safety training and/or for new employee orientation.

SAFETY TRAINING

On-site or off-site safety training can be provided by qualified, experienced safety professionals.
Bilingual safety training is readily available. The scope of the training can be defined by the Insurance Carrier.

Our personnel can assist the Policyholder in organizing slides/video/script for in?house safety training and/or for new employee safety orientation. Training can be provided utilizing digital photos taken of the Policyholder’s specific operations/exposures to more effectively communicate the safety training message to employees.

Computer based safety training can be provided utilizing PowerPoint presentations and a Sony SVGA VPL-CS1 LCD data projector (owned by Safety Services of Texas).

Upon approval of the Insurance Carrier, interactive safety training programs that are CD-ROM based can be prepared for a Policyholder using a registered copy of Macromedia Authorware.

ERGONOMICS CONSULTATIONS

When there is an Ergonomic concern in your Policyholder’s workplace, you want an Ergonomic Consultant to come in who is qualified, experienced, unbiased, and reasonable. We invite you to utilize Safety Services of Texas as your Ergonomic Consultant for the following reasons:

EXPERIENCE:
We have over 25 years of full time commercial and industrial safety experience. We have conducted numerous ergonomic studies in commercial and industrial environments.

TRAINING:
We report the Policyholder the documented unbiased results from on-site physical investigations. At your request, we can conduct ergonomic training of Policyholder management, supervisory, or employees. Train the trainer services are also available.

METHODOLOGY:
The following points are among the purpose/goals of ergonomics:
    • Occupational injury and illness reduction
    • Workers' compensation costs containment
    • Productivity improvement
    • Work quality improvement
    • Absenteeism reduction
    • Government regulation compliance.
The methods by which these goals are obtained involve:
    • Evaluation and control of work site risk factors
    • Identification and quantification of existing work site risk conditions
    • Recommendation of engineering and administrative controls to reduce the identified risk conditions
    • Education of management and workers to risk conditions.

ACCIDENT STUDIES AND ANALYSIS

Records of reported accidents can be reviewed and studied at appropriate intervals to determine causes and trends. When a study develops significant information, such information will be brought to the attention of policyholder management.
